The is our second release of Grenache Blanc and our first since 2015. We were very lucky to procure a long-term contract for this fruit so it will remain a staple of our white program for years to come. The Grenache Blanc vines at Glenrose are 22 years old and among the oldest in the area. The clone is from Tablas Creek which produces a fresher rendition with less bitterness than you taste from the other clones in the area.
The 2020 Grenache Blanc was picked on September 10th at 23.1 brix and whole-cluster pressed into a stainless steel tank. We used Champagne yeast to help accentuate the minerality of this wine and allow the rocky terroir to really shine. After a long and slow fermentation, the dry wine was racked to stainless steel barrels and aged for two months. This wine was sterile filtered and bottled on January 8th.
